Puppy Playland Boarding Guidelines

Welcome to Puppy Playland. Thank you for your interest in our Overnight Boarding Program. The purpose of our company is to provide a fun, stimulating, and safe place for our clients’ dogs while you are at work or away on that needed getaway. This relieves people from the worry and anxiety of leaving their dog at home without supervision while they are away. One service we offer our clients whose dogs use our daycare is the use of our puppycam for checking on your dog while you are away. Simply log onto our website and check out what your dog is up to.

Below are listed the general guidelines for all dogs that attend our Boarding program. In order for your dog to participate in daycare in addition to boarding they will have to meet the requirements of our daycare program, and have attended daycare prior to being boarded to ensure that our group play environment will not overstress them. If your dog does not meet these requirements they can still be boarded, but they will be left in their kennel away from the other dogs. All dogs must still meet temperament guidelines to be boarded. Aggressive and dog aggressive dogs will not be accepted. Dogs coming for boarding only will be walked two times during the day to give them exercise and attention. This is included in the cost. At this time we do not offer boarding for cats or other animals.

Puppy Playland is open for drop-off and pick-up of dogs seven days a week during the following hours. Monday through Friday 7:00am to 7:00pm, and weekends from 8:00am to 11:00am, and 4:00pm to 7:00pm. If pets are not picked up by 10:00am the day of their scheduled pick-up they will be charged an additional fee depending on their actual time of pick-up. Drop-off of pets can be made any time during business hours. You will be charged according to your dogs activities while at our facility.

All dogs are left unattended in their secured kennel during non- business hours 7pm to 7am, plus 11:00am to 4:00pm weekends. For dogs we feature the super premium “Chicken Soup For The Pet Lovers Soul” due to its’ high nutrition values and its’ superiority over other dry foods. We also provide retail sales of this food. Ask for details about why it should be the choice food for your pet. If your dog has any special needs or a special diet you will need to provide the required food. If your dog requires any medication or other care we will be happy to provide that care if possible. There may be an additional charge, which will be discussed at drop-off.

In order to provide our clients with the information they need, and for the health and safety of the pets we care for we are providing this list of Guidelines:

Age and Vaccinations: Puppies are welcome at Puppy Playland when they reach 12 weeks of age and have completed their DHPP vaccines. They then must receive their Rabies Vaccine at 4 months of age, or when approved by their Vet. Puppies in our program between 3 to 8 months of age interact with the older dogs in order to improve their social skills as they grow. We seek to give your puppy more individual attention to help them learn people skills as well. All dogs must be vaccinated by their Vet. for DHPP, Rabies, and Bortadella. Puppies must be vaccinated when they reach an age deemed appropriate by their Vet. All dogs over 8 months of age must be spayed or neutered in order to attend daycare.

Health: All dogs must be in good health. Owners also need to provide proof that their vaccinations and rabies certificate are current. Dogs that have been ill may need to provide certification from their vet. that their dog is again healthy to be admitted, or re-admitted to day care or boarding. To attend daycare older or out of shape dogs may need a note from your vet. stating they are capable of moderate exercise without risk to their health. In addition, all owners must sign a medical release agreeing to be responsible for any veterinary care deemed necessary by our staff while the dog is in our custody. Owners are responsible for injuries to their dog due to excessive play or inappropriate behavior, and accept responsibility for their dogs behavior including the cost of veterinary care of another dog if it is injured by your dog. If your dog has an open wound or stitches they cannot attend daycare due to the risk of infection.

Temperament: All dogs must have completed an evaluation by our staff prior to admittance to daycare. Owners should understand that not all dogs are good candidates for day care and that denial of your dog for attendance does not reflect negatively on your dog as a pet. Not all dogs are happy with the activity of a Dog Daycare. Some dogs that are happy in daycare at their interview, or as a puppy may not be suitable at a later time. A completed client information package is also necessary so that we may know their likes and dislikes, and so we can be aware of any health problems or other issues. Dogs are admitted on a trial basis the first three days they attend, but can be removed at any time for inappropriate behavior. If your dog is registered for daycare and they do not work out in this environment we will switch them to boarding only and adjust your bill accordingly.

Risks: As with any activity involving exposure of your dog to other dogs, there is an increased chance of injury of your animal or the development of illness. We take every precaution possible to reduce this risk, but cannot eliminate it. Examples of common injuries are sore feet and joints from playing, bruises and scratches. Common illnesses are minor respiratory infections and digestive problems. The overall risks of day care however are less than visiting a dog park. Dogs are supervised to reduce these risks. We discipline dogs that do not behave through verbal commands, spraying of water to divert their attention, and time-outs to give them time to rest and refocus their attention. If a dog continues to create problems discipline can ultimately result in the dog being kept in boarding only. Owners are however still responsible for the actions of their dog. While this is uncommon this includes the cost of injuries caused to another dog.

Reservations: While we will take dogs for daycare on a drop in basis, you are strongly advised to confirm a space before arriving with your dog as we base availability on both space and available staff. We seek to maintain an adequate staff to dog ratio. Clients on a monthly program, or with a boarding, or daycare reservation will have a guaranteed space available. We appreciate your understanding if we limit attendance due to staffing levels. Dogs being boarded during major holiday weekends must be reserved for at least two days. A deposit will be required for these days, which will not be refunded if reservations are not canceled at least 72 hours before your reservation is scheduled to start. Deposits for other weekends are not required. Chronic no-shows affect our ability to use the space for someone else. If you are found to be a chronic no show without canceling your reservation with proper notice you will not be allowed to reserve space.

Food: In daycare we recommend that you stick to your dog’s regular feeding schedule. If you wish to have us feed your dog during the day please let us know and we will do our best to adjust their schedule using our food, or to the food you have provided. Fresh water is available throughout the day. Snacks are not provided during group play in order to avoid arguments, and due to possible allergies. If you would like us to give them one during the day just bring it with you and we will feed them separately. Dogs in boarding are fed twice a day unless we are told otherwise. We provide this food at no additional charge. We will be happy to accommodate any special diet needs but this food must be provided at your expense. There may be an additional charge for giving your pet special food or medicine. This will be discussed during check-in.

Toys: We provide toys suitable for the playgroup. Please do not bring toys from home for use during daycare, these toys will be given to your dog when they are kenneled. We would hate to see them damaged so we will not let the dogs share toys from home while playing with the other dogs.

Naptime: There are scheduled quiet times for the dogs in day care. This is to prevent over simulation. The time and duration of the quiet time is dependent on the activity level of the day and may vary.

Boarding: If your dog is coming to stay for overnight boarding they must pass the entrance interview in order to participate in the play groups during the day. If your dog cannot pass this temperament test they can still be boarded but will be walked individually at least twice during the day. They must otherwise stay in their kennel away from the other dogs. Their vaccinations must be current as well as their overall health must also meet the same criteria as needed for daycare. We provide a premium dry dog food for your best friend while they are here that is fed twice a day. Please ask for details if you would like more information. Please let us know if there are any special needs. If your dog requires a special diet, or medicine you will need to provide it along with feeding instructions. If feeding times vary outside our regular feeding times, or there are other special needs there may be an additional charge. Boarding is also subject to reservations and availability.

We hope these guidelines provide the information you need to provide peace of mind while your pet is in our care. If any questions remain please do not hesitate to contact us, we will be happy to provide any additional information.
